6 Things You Need Know Buying Trampoline

-------------------------------------------

With so many different trampoline models available, ranging from inexpensive to premium quality, choosing the right trampoline can be tricky. People often ask, which trampoline is right for me? What size should I choose for my backyard? What size and model trampoline is best for my family?

Follow these steps to find the right fit for you and your family.

Step 1 – How Much Space Do You Have?

The first step to deciding which trampoline is best for you is to measure your backyard and find out how much space you have. Trampolines range in sizes, from as small as 2.5m x 2.5m and as large as 4m x 4m. The jumping surface (mat) can range from 54 square ft to 155 square ft.

Look for a section of your backyard that is flat and even, and clear of branches, debris, fences and slopes, and measure the space to see how much room you're working with. Don’t forget to allow for additional safe clearance space around the trampoline.

Here are our recommendations to find the best space for your trampoline:

  • Flat and even (if the space you have isn’t level, we recommend the rise/gradient be no more than 3 degrees across the whole space. We don’t advise installing where the slope is greater than that).
  • Safe lateral clearance space of 1.5m on all sides of the trampoline is highly recommended.
  • Minimum height clearance of 6m from the ground is highly recommended.
  • Clean and free of obstacles or debris.

Step 2 – Who Is Jumping?

The trampoline model you choose also depends on who will be using the trampoline. Is it just the kids or will Mum and Dad jump too?

For older jumpers and energetic families, trampolines with a larger surface area can be lots of fun, and provide plenty of jumping room.

The trampoline maximum user weight can help make youre decision eaiser.

The Maximum User Weight is based on how heavy you are and how high you jump. It is about ensuring jumpers can't 'bottom out’ (touch the ground when jumping) when jumping vigorously and at a height. Each trampoline should have a specified safe user weight, and depending on who will be using it you may want to opt for a larger trampoline over a smaller.

Step 3 – What Type Of Trampoline Do You Want?

There are two types of trampolines on the market – the traditional spring-based trampolines and new springless trampolines.

Springless designs completely remove springs from the equation – like Springfree Trampoline. Instead of springs, Springfree uses flexible composite rods that are underneath the jumping surface and out of harm's way. Learn more about the difference between spring-based and Springfree trampolines.

Step 4 – Trampoline Safety Features

When it comes to trampolines, safety is at the top of the list for every parent. Thankfully, trampolines have come a long way since you were a kid.

They are now safer, and there have even been trampolines designed with safety top-of-mind.

Dr. Keith Alexander, inventor of the Springfree Trampoline, has gone so far as to re-design the trampoline from the ground up to make jumping safe. The revolutionary design removed all the impact points that caused 90% of all product-related trampoline injuries. Learn more about the features that make Springfree the World's Safest Trampoline.

Step 6 – Can I Keep It Up All Year?

In many cases you can leave your trampoline outside all year long. Finding a quality trampoline that's built to withstand the tough Australian conditions is important if you'd like it to last the elements.

Choosing a trampoline that is UV-resistant and UV-treated, as well as tested against harsh conditions is important for longevity.

Which Trampoline Is Right For You?

When all the above are considered, part of choosing the right trampoline for you comes down to personal preference. Do you like the look of the square models the most or maybe the oval Is safety a priority? What about quality and longevity? How much jumping space would you like?

After you've checked you have the space and safe clearance required, sometimes the best way to choose is to simply try one out. We have experience centres located across the country where you can try one out yourself, or you can bounce on by to experience the Springfree difference at an event
